We held an official opening of our new facilities on Friday 18th October. Chair of the Ursula Keyes Trust, John Brimelow performed the ribbon cutting to mark the opening. The Trust are the Centre’s landlord and were one of the funders of the project.

The Centre supports people with a wide range of neurological conditions including MS, Parkinson’s Disease, FND and Fibromyalgia, and their families. The additional building will enable the charity to support more people and support further growth and development of the Centre’s services and support.

The additional building houses a large accessible gym, three times the size of the Centre’s original facility, a physio suite for group exercise, and additional therapy rooms for one-to-one treatments.

The Neuro Therapy Centre’s Chair of Trustees, Lorraine Dodd, said “This is an exciting time for the Neuro Therapy Centre. This expansion has been carefully planned in order to optimize the space available, so we can help even more people live their best neuro lives. Gifts left in Wills are very important to the Centre, and it is a legacy which helped us to initiate the project. We are very grateful to the funders and supporters who have helped us achieve this first phase of our development plans in just a year.”

The expansion into the new building means the Centre’s original building can be redeveloped to expand its mental health services and its café which is the heart of the Centre. The Centre is aiming to complete this second phase of development during 2025 when the charity will be celebrating its fortieth year.

John Brimelow, Chair of Trustees at the Ursula Keyes Trust, said; “The staff and trustees at the Neuro Therapy Centre do amazing work for the community, not just for people with long-term neurological conditions, but with their carers, and families, and the NHS. The Trust is happy to continue to support them and provide a grant to facilitate their plans for expansion. The new extension is a testament to their work and how valued this is. It will be a real asset for the region and a respite for many.”

In addition to the Ursula Keyes Trust, the other charitable trusts which supported the Centre’s expansion include The Geoffrey and Pauline Martin Charitable Trust, Lord Leverhulme Charitable Trust, Marjory Boddy Charitable Trust, Robert Clutterbuck Charitable Trust, the Morrisons Foundation, the Percy Bilton Charitable Trust, Oakdale Charitable Trust, Sport England, and Boshier Hinton Foundation.

Among those who attended the event were Neuro Therapy Centre Patron and former Everton footballer Kevin Ratcliffe, Lord Barry Jones and Lady Janet, the Lord Mayor of Chester, Counsellor Razia Daniels, Mark Tami, MP for Alyn and Deeside, Jack Sargeant MS for Alyn and Deeside, Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales and representatives from Cheshire West and Cheshire council, businesses from the region, Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board and the Centre’s trustees, supporters and service users.

The Centre supports people through regular physiotherapy, tailored exercise opportunities, counselling and support groups, as well providing opportunities for people to meet and share experiences.
