Final works are taking place and soon we will be starting to use our new building for our gym sessions and many of our physiotherapy and exercise sessions. This will involve some changes in where our team are located, how members use each building, and making sure everyone knows the services available and where activities are taking place. It is also giving us the opportunity to review and adapt our processes and procedures to make sure members needs are met fairly, safely and the wonderful spirit of the Centre is upheld.

As much as we want it to, not everything will run smoothly from day one, so please bear with us and provide constructive feedback as we make this transition. We know that change can be difficult and we appreciate your support and patience whilst we improve the Centre.

Moving between the buildings

Before the new building is open, resurfacing will be carried out between the two buildings to make sure all outside walkways are level, smooth, and safe, and there is appropriate access for people using wheelchairs

Gym sessions, group physiotherapy and 1-1 physiotherapy will take place in the new building, so please arrive in time and allow enough time for you to move from our reception or Neuro Café over to the other building for your booked session. Some therapies and 1-1 services will remain in our existing building, please check with reception or the therapies team when booking.

Signage and notices will be around both buildings to help you get to know where different services are located.

We have plans in development to create an accessible covered walkway between the two buildings which will support this journey in the future.

Toilet facilities

There are two accessible toilets in the new building, as well as a changing room and shower facility (suitable only for those who can manage this activity independently). Our largest toilet facility will remain in our current building for people who need Carer assistance. If you are someone who needs personal care when toileting please ensure that your Carer attends the Centre with you. Personal care is not a service that the Centre is able to offer regularly.

Food and refreshments

We will start to have more space in our Neuro Café once our physiotherapy services have moved. Our café will be receiving a full re-development including expanding our kitchen as part of our next phase of works and we will try to keep any interruption to service to a minimum when these works are able to start.

Cold water will be available in our new building for use during exercise sessions.

As we expand the Neuro Café the variety of food and refreshments that you are able to purchase will develop too – giving you more choice. We aim to support this expansion through the recruitment of someone with specific catering experience to strengthen our support team. This will then allow us to return to our regular social activities which are enjoyed and valued by so many of you.

If you need to bring your own food and drink to the Centre, please bear in mind that we are not able to store large quantities of personal food, and due to food regulations, we are not able to prepare and heat food that you have brought from elsewhere.

Making bookings and donations

Our main entrance and reception area will be relocating as the work in our existing building develops. We are also working on introducing technology which will enable bookings, donations, and food and drink orders to be made from our new building and also in the Neuro Café.

In the meantime, bookings can still be made via the phone during our opening hours and bookings and donations are also able to be made through our website at any time.

Existing building

We are about to embark on the fundraising for our second phase of development, which will see the Centre grow the facilities for its emotional support services, improve the facilities for its virtual classes, and expand its space for social activities and the Neuro Café. We would hope to get this work started by the end of this year, for completion during 2025.

If you have any questions about any of these changes and developments please do let us know.
